Feb 11 2009: an important looking update for Eclipse PDT 2.0

A new version of the Eclipse PDT 2.0 environment.

It will be interesting to see if the new features of PDT 2.0 goad the developers of rival PHPEclipse into meeting the challenge, especially if PDT is indeed "lighter and faster" as it claims to be. See Feature Comparison for PHPEclipse ( also the PHP component of EasyEclipse ).

It may be that NetBeans for PHP is driving the standard for PHP IDEs these days. I tend to use Eclipse with Zend Debugger rather than NetBeans wtih xdebug, but NetBeans is a nicely designed and well-integrated environment. I think most people would agree that, however they feel about the relative merits of the two, NetBeans is easier to learn and use than Eclipse even if it's not quite as powerful in some areas, debugging for instance.

Oct 12 2008: musings about incongruity

Some useful links for PHP ...I noticed recently that for all the time I spend with PHP, I have very few links about it. I guess I don't need them, or at least I think I don't need them.

In fact, I noticed some time ago that for a putative Business Rules site, I have relatively little content about the "business end" of business rules. Is it another case of the cobbler's children going barefoot ?
